How algae protect themselves from sunlight. 🌞

Under the sea, green algae have learned to protect themselves from too much sunlight! They have a special pigment called siphonein. This pigment acts like sunglasses for algae, helping them not to overheat or burn. Imagine playing outside on a hot day without a hat; it would be too hot, right? But with a hat, you feel much better! 😎

Scientists found out that siphonein helps algae use sunlight without getting hurt. They used special cameras and computers to see how it works. This discovery could lead to new technologies for solar panels that are protected, just like algae are! 🛡️

Imagine if you had such protection from the sun when you go outside. That would be awesome! Now scientists will think about how to create such technologies inspired by nature.

❓ What else from nature do you think could be used to create new technologies?
